On Level Bio and PreAp Biology classes have an opportunity to participate in a Stanford Virtual Reality research project on the topic of immunity using Google Cardboard. The anonymous project involves students taking a short pre-survey and pre-test, reading a text about immunity, exploring either a 2D or 3D immunity exercise and then completing a post-test and a post-survey. The project will take no longer than a class period and will involve some classes serving as a control group (using a 2D video) and other class periods exploring the 3D virtual environment. A student participation form will be sent out to parents via Skyward. Please let us know if you have any questions
My name is Amy Lam and his is my fourth year teaching science in High School and my first year at Westlake. I love learning, in fact I spent more than 12 years in higher education. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, my Master’s degree from Sacramento State University and I completed all but my dissertation at the University of Texas. Even after all that schooling, I still chose to stay in the field of education. My feeling is that learning how to learn is the most powerful tool that I can give my students. I want my students to appreciate learning and be excited about the learning process. I look forward to a great year of discovery together.
